A 10 day summer school was offered to all of our 2021 Year 7 cohort students - 147 in total (74 Pupil Premium). The summer school aimed to support students with their transition from primary to secondary school, and to aid educational recovery following COVID-19 academically and in also terms of enrichment, development and wellbeing.
The summer school curriculum comprised lessons in English, Maths, Science, Humanities and our GREAT lives curriculum as well as there also being enrichment activities in Sports, Team Building, Makaton Sign Language, Animal Sessions, Dance, Food, Art and Drama.
The Summer School was led by members of the Senior leadership team and sessions were delivered by Copley Academy Teaching staff and external providers such as Zest Me, Circus Sensible, MU Foundation, Kitty Creative Confidence, ZooLab and Claire McCurrie Art & Design.
115 students (63 Pupil Premium) attended the summer school over the two weeks. Parents of students who had signed up to attend, but not arrived, were contacted. The most common reason given for non attendance was changing holiday plans and issues concerning COVID19.
